Twinsie Tuesday: China Glaze Agro

Twinsie Tuesday, ladies!

I was actually really excited for today's challenge of a hyped up polish.  I thought awhile about this, and then it hit me: what has been more hyped up than the China Glaze Hunger Games Collection?

To be really frank, I was initially underwhelmed by this collection.  Despite all the swatches, I just couldn't get behind this hodgepodge of colors and finishes that just didn't read spring or read cohesive.  I never read the books and have yet to see the movie so I assume that that may have played a role in my ambivalence.  However, the only polish that mildly intrigued me was Agro, since as my loyal readers know, I've been growing increasingly more and more attracted to green.

So when I received Agro as a gift from Anna, the sweetheart behind Going to the Showing, I had to try it.  Wow, was I taken aback by Agro.  I change my polish everyday but I could not bare to take this beauty off for the entire weekend.  I was just in love.  Head over heels in love.  Shakespeare sonnets in love.  All other stupid love epithets in love.

Anyways, let me tell you why I love this polish so much.  First of all, the formula.  I know I've been hard on China Glaze in the past, but they've really stepped it up lately!  This was pure butter and needed minimal clean up.  The consistency was the perfect balance between thick and silky.  It was truly a pleasure to apply.

Secondly, the color.  Um, is this not the most glowingiest polish ever?  (Sorry for totally making up that word.)  This polish is what I'd call a creme based in metallic shimmer.  The base is clearly a lighter hunter green (see the edges) flushed with a goldeny olive metallic finish.  The last picture with flash really captures the glow within this polish.

This is two coats.

Yum.  This is just perfection.  While I can't say I didn't get a touch of lobster hands, this polish is worth it.  The one thing I didn't like so much was the tinge of yellow it brought out in my fingertips.  That was just unusual since I have a very blue-based skin tone.  But like I said, this polish just blew my mind.

Thank you Anna for adding this gem to my collection!

*** Updated Note: I made a mistake!  I thought this was just a hyped up polish, not necessarily one that disappointed as well.  My apologies to all my Twinsies for my mistake.  I hope you enjoy the swatches nonetheless! ***

  15. I think you could call this as filling all the requirements of the Twinsie theme for this week. Let's face it...Argo just is not the most stunning of greens. It has this flat thing it leaves me with. It needed some gold glass fleck in it  - or just something else. I was excited to get this one and Riveting. Fortunately Riveting did blow me away! It's in running for my top 20 (maybe even top 10) of 2012!  Certainly this is a major hyped color/collection - you did not miss there at all!

  16. The Hunger Games Polish collection was very hyped up. None of them screamed at me but if I saw them on clearance or something I'd probably pick a few up. This color looks great on you.

  18. I felt the same way initially. But I'm really pleased I was sent Agro because I know I would have never picked it up otherwise. Now, I'm lemming Riveting...that orange is fantastic!

  20.  I hear what you're saying about Agro, I felt the same way initially.  I have to say though, that on the nail, it's pretty remarkable.  But I am really anxious to get Riveting, it just looks amazing.  Especially since 2012 is all about orange, I'm desperate to get my hands on it :)
