Sinful Colors Neptune

I'm super impressed with the $2 polish brands these days.  Pure Ice, Wet n Wild, Sinful Colors...they are really competing with those more expensive, almost luxury brands for quality and creativity.  The amount of new collections that are both cohesive and accessible is really astounding me.  The fact that they are also affordable just makes me want to forego pricier brands and just live in my Walgreens.

The Sinful Colors Greek Isles Collection really took my breath away.  I mean, yeah, there were like fifteen of the exact same green (which still baffles me), but the green was nice and the rest of the colors were also pretty so of course, I had to pick some up.

Neptune spoke to me because I loved the royal blue polish trend that started last fall and was happy to see it translated for spring.  What I'm really digging is the shimmer on this little guy: it's subtle, but present, and adds a light touch to this polish that makes it wearable even in warmer weather (for those of you who are anal about wearing only season-appropriate colors).

This is 2 coats of buttery smooth formula.

I'm so pleased with all these summer SC collections and hope they keep producing like this.  While their repromotes were a bit tiresome, the fact that they are reinventing themselves is refreshing when some other larger name brands (you know who you are) are falling short.

What do you ladies think of Neptune?  And what's your take on drugstore vs. luxury brands?  Worth the price or just hyped up, dupable polish?

  3. I like drugstore brands. Most polishes seem just as nice and I can get 4 times as much polish for the same price

  4. This is stunning!!! :D  From what I can tell, I adore Sinful Colors!  I agree with you about the quality!  The selection is excellent, and I would rather spend $20 on 10 amazing nail polishes than on one that I may not like once I use it.

  6. Colors are really a product of the lighting...which is a good and bad thing for a blogger.  But Neptune in real life was very vibrant.

  14. Awwwww pretty!! I've never tried any luxury brand nail polishes, but since I love variety I'd still go with drugstore nail polishes, as variety + luxury brands = super expensive! LOL! :) x

  15. This is a great blue!  I love drugstore polish, I don't discriminate.  As long as the color is awesome and so is the formula, I'm happy ;0).

  16. I'm totally with you.  I've tried a Chanel polish before and I was really shocked at how poor the quality was: the formula was runny and the brush was useless.  I will forever be loyal to be Sally Hansen and other drugstore cohorts.

  17. Stunning blue! I love getting cheap dupes! Why pay 3x the price just for a name?
