Sally Hansen Good to Grape

It's been awhile since I've showcased a polish from my favored Complete Salon Manicure line but unfortunately, the latest collection from Sally Hansen was just underwhelming and I only picked up two polishes that haven't gotten much mileage.

Good to Grape is no exception.  In the bottle, this looks like everything Sally Hansen does right: the dusty yet purely pigmented creme, the appearance of a thick formula, and that awesome bottle.  However, Ms. Hansen dropped the ball on this one.  Good to Grape while a really pretty dusty, blue-toned, medium purple was watery and pooled terribly at my cuticles.  The formula was sheer and poorly pigmented and only covered in 3 coats, which just didn't layer properly and is visible in my photos.

Take a look.

Well at least it's shiny, right?  Silver lining here.

I'm just disappointed with this purple since I totally foresaw myself wearing this color out.  I'm hoping the spring Prabal Gurung collaboration will make up for this lackluster, mid season replacement.  Come on, Sally.  You know you can do better than this.

What do you girls think?  Am I too hard on my girl, Sally?  Or, at $8 a bottle, does she need to step up her game?

  1. For 8 dollars a bottle you should get good performance.  It is a shame that this was disappointing, as it truly is a lovely colour.

  3. It's a pretty color, but that's too bad about the formula.

  4. Beautiful polish!  I agree, for $8, that formula should be pretty close to perfect.

  6. That's too bad. I think the Complete Salon Manicure line is super overpriced for what it is.

Also, it's super weird that Sally Hansen would have two polishes called Grape Going. There's also an Insta-Dri of the same name!

  7. For $8 this should have been the best EVER. I really hope that the new collection is nice and that I might pick one up for myself. I always walk away from the display, I really wish these were not $8...... Lovely color on  you though! <3

  12. I typically love CSM so I don't terribly mind the price. This however was a major robbery. Hoping the spring collection makes up for this!

  13. I had a similar experience with Gray by Gray. Was hoping for a slate blue, but got a blue-yaqua that really didn't last on my nails :(

  16. I think Sally should step up her game. Especially at $8.00 a bottle.
