OPI Wooden Shoe Like to Know

I really looked forward to the OPI Holland Collection.  In fact, it was the spring collection I was lemming the most.  So far, of the 3 polishes I've swatched, I'm just kinda underwhelmed.

Wooden Shoe Like to Know is a really rich chocolaty brown polish that, like the other Hollands I swatched, needed three coats for adequate color saturation.  While I really like the base color, the golden and copper shimmer that glows from the bottle just did not appear on the nail.

Please pardon the minor tip wear in these swatches but this is the most color accurate photo I could manage.

Sigh...it's nice, but.... I don't know.

I think a lot of this collection's downfall is the hype, which I bought into twofold.  I have three more colors to play with, so hopefully they'll make up for the lackluster performance of their sisters.

What do you ladies think?  Am I being too hard on my polish again?

  1. I don't have this one, but I understand what you mean.  I think one of the things that would really help is for the shimmer to be more evident.  Then it wouldn't just be another brown polish.

  2. Awhhhhh man. I think I purchased this one. Poo. I hate polishes that are like that, where you cant see the shimmer on the nails.

  3. Exactly!  I think OPI oversold this collection...the money should've gone from the PR department into the production...sigh...

  4. Don't get too disappointed.  You can see it, just not as much as I imagine you want to.  Again...sigh...

  5. You aren't being to harsh on this collection I have found myself kind of "meh" about them too. I think that the promo shots were awesome but in real life it was a little bit of a let down. Who knows we may love them more in the fall. I really think this would be awesome with Essie's shine of the times for a gorgeous fall inspired mani! *request for the fall Darling* ;-)

  6. the color isn't too bad..but then again i'm a fan of colors like this. it actually reminds me a lot of china glaze's ingrid and mac's style clan. especially with the golden shimmer in there.

  7. I actually prefer Ingrid because the shimmer is more uniform throughout. Plus, the base is a more unique brown (dark taupish gold) than this chocolate brown in the OPI so even when the shimmer isn't apparent, the color stands out more.
