And here's the grandma color that failed.
I really hoped for the best with this OPI. The minute I saw Gouda Gouda Two Shoes from the Holland Collection I thought it was modern and cool and really, really, really hoped I could pull this off.
I could not.
First of all, the color is just too puttyish. I don't wear brown-leaning pinks or reds well and this is no exception. The golden shimmer is nice, but not really pronounced, even with flash. The day I wore this I really tried to like it but every time I looked at my hands I mentally sighed.
Secondly, the formula. This is not the best OPI formula I've ever encountered. It's not the worst, but I had some bad cuticle pooling that I wasn't thrilled about. I did do this mani is bad lighting so I can take some of the blame for the poor application, but I figure I'd mention it nonetheless.
This is 3 coats.

I think this color has potential...but not on me. This color needs a girl with a darker skin tone so that it has the opportunity to pop in a way it just can't on my glow in the dark dermis. This is already on its way to a better home.
So what do you ladies think about Gouda Gouda Two Shoes?

I agree with you when you called it a "grandma color." Lol!
ReplyDeleteI think it's pretty but I doubt it would look good on me either
ReplyDeleteI am a grandma...and even I would not wear it :(
ReplyDeleteIt is sort of putty. Its pretty - something I would wear but not something I would buy sort of nail polish.
ReplyDeleteIt just doesn't work as a color period.
ReplyDeleteYeah, you're pretty fair as well so I'd save your money. There are nicer neutral shimmers out there.
ReplyDeleteHa! I doubt my grandmother would either! She wears hot pink and reds ;)
ReplyDeleteIt has to be the right skin tone. It just majorly failed on me. Like I said though, on a darker or perhaps more yellow toned girl it would probably be much more flattering.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm too fair for this too. Too bad!
ReplyDeleteYeah....some grandma's wear it, although I think it could work on me..but wouldn't like to meet grandma in line with the same nail polish than me :s haha
ReplyDeleteYou know I like these kind of colors, lol. I actually don't think it looks too bad on you.
ReplyDeleteYour wallet is appreciative of that, I'm sure ;)
ReplyDeleteSome grandmas wear cool colors (mine for example ;) so you never know!
ReplyDeleteThanks, but it's already in the Marisa pile all nice and wrapped :)
ReplyDeleteI kinda like this color. It reminds me of Sinful Colors Vacation Time.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, good catch! Only this has the shimmer.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE this color. This is the only opi polish I have paid full price for. I have yellow undertones and am an nc 40. This doesn't POP but its such a beautiful nude that I haven't seen a dupe for. I think the closest is an ulta brand polish. That I can't remember the name. It has the word fawn in it though.
ReplyDeleteI think I know the shade you're talking about. Is it Ulta Gold Tipped Rose? Doesn't have fawn in the title but it's the most similar Ulta that I own. Glad you're a fan of this shade :)
