Nicole by OPI Shoot for the Maroon

I really try to post polishes in the order that I swatch them.  I have a huge list of drafts that are just itching to be published, so I really try to reign myself in by keeping to the order I saved them.  However, occasionally -- who am I kidding...more than occasionally -- I have no choice but to push a swatch up to the front because I just have to show you ladies.

Shoot for the Maroon is one of those polishes.

I had seen this polish in a bunch of pharmacies but I just wasn't so sure.  In fact, the day that I picked this up in CVS, I had planned on getting one of the new Kardashian Kolors for Spring.  But my boyfriend pulled this one out of the display and said that this was nice and that the Kardashian ones were ugly and I didn't really have a color like this.  (I don't think he's right, but if he supports me getting a polish, who am I to argue?)

Huge thank you to my boyfriend for this get.  Shoot for the Maroon is absolutely, positively, remarkably fantastic.  I had lotioned my hands before I polished, so the application shrunk on me, but in three (I think...might be two?) coats, this covered opaquely and literally popped off my fair skin.

Do you see that macro shot?  Do you see those orange, red, pink, and purple glass flecks literally swimming in the dark maroon base?  This polish is something special, let me tell you.  I know that the Kardashian Kollection has a color similar to this, but please take my word for it, if you're debating between the two, get this one.  Just comparing in the bottle, you can see that the glass fleck shimmer in Shoot for the Maroon is one hundred times more striking.

Thoughts ladies?

  6. The glass flecks are really fantastic and remind me of Zoya polishes, since they take the cake with that sort of finish.

  11. I like that you said breath taking since that means that this must really be a special polish.  And I never thought I'd say that of an NOPI...
