Twinsie Tuesday: Baby's First Franken

Twinsie Tuesday challenge: swatch a franken polish.

I am lucky to have a number of very talented and generous friends in the blogging world who have shared with me their fantastic creations (be on the lookout tomorrow for a very special one :).  But I figured today would be a good day to unveil my first ever franken which I've aptly dubbed "Baby's First Franken."  Clever, right?

So let me first state that I'm not completely in love with my creation.  The spectraflair holo glitter I added just looked kinda gritty and the holo didn't photograph on the nail at all (although you can see the holo in the bottle shot as well as in real life).  Anyone who reads this blog regularly will know that I'm just not into glitter, so I was somewhat disappointed in the finish.

However, I'm really quite pleased with the color I created.  I started with a sheer light blue shimmer, dumped in a lot of bright, Barbie doll pink, and added a tad of navy and I ended up with a shimmery cornflower blue.  The next time I franken, I think I'm just going to skip the glitz and just go for the color since I really enjoyed experimenting with that.

This is two coats of Baby's First.

I'm really quite happy with base color and it makes me smile to think that I actually created a polish!  Woo hoo me!

What do you ladies think?  Should I nix the spectraflair next time?

In the meantime, please check out my other Twinsies to see what they've swatched!  And please welcome our new addition: ChiChi and Anna!

  8. Yay! Your first franken, love the name.  The blue is lovely, and I really like the glitter in it.  I had to used 2 coats of SV to tame my glitter!

  10. I like it, but since you aren't all into glitter do what you like best. On another note...I need some spectra flair, lol

  20. To be honest, I don't 100% know if what I got what spectraflair since it ended up too gritty.  It looked pretty in the bottle though :/

  23. There are supposed to be different grades, so you might have gotten a courser grade than you wanted if that was the case.

  24. Hmm...maybe? I'm so clueless when it comes to that stuff.
