Pure Ice Pink Ice

I am no fan of the Kardashians whatsoever.  I'm not going to waste time bashing them and to be honest, I can't get enough of Jersey Shore or Mob Wives, so I'm really not in a position to judge.  However, I have to admit I like their style.  I'm the same height as Kim (5"3) and share the same relative shape (although I certainly don't have a tush like that!) so I take some inspiration from what she wears.  Their clothing lines let me down considerably but I absolutely fell in love with their cremes from the Kardashian Kolors Nicole by OPI collection.

So that whole rant and this post isn't even featuring a KK swatch.  (Um, is it just me, or does it make anyone else uncomfortable to write the multiple K acronym the family uses?)  Instead I have for you what I believe is a dupe for the lovely girly shimmer Kim-pletely in Love.

I don't live anywhere near a Walmart -- which distributed the collection exclusively -- but I randomly found one driving home from my grandmother's house in NJ right before Christmas.  The whole place was a mess and the only Kardashian polish I saw was It's All About the Glam, which while lovely, wasn't anything to write home about.

So I shifted over a bit to the Pure Ice section, another collection exclusive to Walmart.  It was there that I found Pink Ice.  This semi-sheer shimmery pink looks remarkably like swatches I've seen for the Kardashian equivalent so I quickly picked it up.

You be the judge if this is a good dupe.  Mind you, this rang up to $1.97 while the KK retails for about $9.

I personally think this is really pretty.  After 3 coats, this builds up nicely and isn't frosty enough to be labeled grandma-ish.  My only complaint is that this polish is both thick and runny.  I tried to apply it as conservatively as possible, but it clumped up and then pooled at my cuticles.  I have never used this brand before so I think it may take getting used to.

So I ask you again, girlies: dupe or no dupe?

  1. Looks like a possible dupe to me.  I can only guess since I don't have a Walmart nearby either.  I really like this though.

  2. It is very similar.  And for $2, I'd be satisfied with that over the Nicole one!  Very pretty on you :)

  5. I really like this color and Pure Ice has some really nice polishes.  This color also kinda reminds me of Finger Paints Pink Imagination.

  8. Your nails are beautiful and that color really suits you!!! I've come to be really disappointed with Pure Ice because I can't get it to layer well and if I do it's usually streaky. But you got this to come out perfectly for you.

  10. I'll have to look into that.  Never tried Finger Paints and heard that they stained, which has scared me off...

  11. Aw thanks, Patricia!  This was my first go at Pure Ice but there wasn't any streaking issues (probably because this was more of an iridescent shimmer than a solid creme).  The only issue, like I mentioned, is the weird formula.  I hope to try one of their cremes soon.  Purple Reign has my name on it :)

  13. By the time my Walmart finally got the Karsashian collection (a week or so ago), Ulta and Target also had it. But I'd much rather pay $2 for Pure Ice. This is really pretty :)
