OPI My Private Jet

Yesterday was a really awful day for me so as a treat to myself (and my fabulous readers!) I've decided to post a swatch that I was holding off on.

Behold, OPI My Private Jet.

I know that there is a lot of HTF controversy surrounding this little guy, and to be honest, I can't get it all straight.  I know there was an original black holo that is now discontinued and then a second, slightly browner scattered holo was produced.  Apparently the third permutation isn't even holo at all.  I don't know if that's even slightly correct, so feel free to correct me in the comments.

Anyways, about a month ago, I received frantic texts and voicemails from Nory.  My phone had really bad reception so I didn't realize until later that she had been trying to get a hold of me for like 20 minutes because she found the last two MPJs in a store and wanted to know if she should pick one up for me.  After finding out what in the world "MPJ" was (oh, these polish acronyms!), I flip flopped until Nory made the final decision and bought it for me.

I am super happy that she did.  While I believe this is the second holo version, unfortunately I could not capture the holo in this polish well.  It's not a particularly strong holo, more like a super scattered one at best, but the color is actually what makes me love this.  A smoky charcoal brown, I felt all siren-y wearing this.  The holo shimmer is just the icing on the cake.

This is two perfect coats.

I know that in terms of holo-y goodness, this doesn't compare to say Color Club Revvvolution, Diamond Cosmetics Chainmail Charm, HITS Zeus, or anything Glitter Gal, but I still think this stands alone in its specialness.  I love that it's not true black and think that definitely flatters my skin tone, which can look even paler (if that is even possible) with a true black on.  Thanks to my girl Nory for making the final call on this one :)

So, what are our thoughts on OPI My Private Jet, ladies?

  6. Hahaha...to be honest, I think a lot of the hype is just because it's HTF, which in my opinion is silly.  But if you do see this in stores for a reasonable price, I'd scoop it up.

  9. Thanks! And maybe try stamping? From what I hear, it's a bit less time consuming than nail art.
