Maybelline Notorious Navy

My thanks to the lovely Jenn from All That is Gorgeous... for sending me this gem of a polish to add to my collection.

Previously my experience with Maybelline polishes was not too positive.  I found the brushes uneven and the polish to chip very quickly.  But just looking at this molteny dark blue in the bottle made me put past my prejudices and try this out.  Oh my goodness, this is absolutely lovely!

Unlike the other Maybelline polishes I used to own (I gifted them away fairly quickly after use), this applied very evenly and the formula was spectacular.  And the color!  Doesn't this look like glistening denim?  It's really such a cool color...I actually used it for my pedi as well!

This is two coats that dried super quickly.

This also dried with a fabulous glossy shine.  While I used the same old top coat I usually do, I think it was the polish that just shone through.  My grandmother actually commented how shiny my nails were when I wore this and my mother fought me for the bottle.

I want to thank Jenn not just for this beautiful blue polish (which is LE so I always get a little bit more excited when I get a hold of those!) but for making me purge my past ambivalence towards Maybelline polishes.  I hope they continue to produce polishes that equal this quality and color.

What do you girlies think of Maybelline polishes?  Do you have a favorite color?  Or do you share the same sentiments I had before?

  1. I don't even own a Maybelline polish anymore.  I find my store doesn't have much a variety of Maybelline colors.  This one is great on you though!

  2. I don't own a Maybelline so I don't know much about them. For the record this is a gorgeous polish!

  3. I think the standard line of Maybelline has been cut to like 12 polishes and none is that spectacular.  I think they've been taking a leaf out of the (previous) L'oreal book and only having seasonal LE collections.  L'oreal actually owns Maybelline (and Essie, for that matter) so that may have something to do with it.

  9. Ooooh! I like this one a lot! It does look like glistening denim. I have also had bad experiences with Maybelline in the past, maybe it's time for me to give them a second chance  ;)

  13. From what I hear, I lot of companies remove the names once they hit Europe. I don't know why though either.
