L'oreal Owl's Night

Owl's Night was one of those polishes that I picked up and put down so many times that by the time I actually wanted it, it disappeared.  And I mean literally disappeared.  I'm positive that the L'oreal elves got annoyed at my indecisiveness and purposely hid all Owl's Nights when I walked into drugstores.

Loony rant aside, I finally found Owl's Night and Owl's Lust on eBay for around $10 including shipping, which to me was a major steal because both retailed for about $7 in stores.  And yet, despite my lemming fulfillment, I waited a remarkably long time (maybe two weeks?) before swatching this.  I think those elves may have been on to something.

But when I finally did put this on, it really was as lovely as I imagined.  A brown creme base with olive gold shimmer and flecks is what Color Club With Abandon should have been but wasn't.  This applied really well in two coats, but I do think that the shorter, thicker L'oreal brush is something to get used to.

I really wish that I had bought this earlier on in the season because I definitely would've appreciated it more in the fall than now.  While I think this is certainly a staple shimmer in my collection, because I'm so crazy about season-appropriate color polishes, this sadly won't get a lot of wear time until next autumn.  Oh well.

In the meantime, I will look at this swatch and smile at my win!  Take that, silly elves.

  2. I actually just stumbled across this polish in the drugstore yesterday! I'd kind of wanted it back when it first came out, but never bothered looking for it. Then, while searching (in vain) for Revlon Whimsical, I came upon Owl's Night! I thought it had to be fate, so of course I bought it :) Thanks for the swatch, it looks super nice and I'm excited to wear it!

  7. Wise decision!  I actually picked up Whimsical for a friend right before the hype and got it for a steal (maybe like $3).  Once it got to phenomenon level, I felt very pleased with myself.  I hope you're feeling the same way owning Owl's Night :)

  10. It looks awesome on you! I'm glad you were a able to get your little hands on this. Your "Elves" didn't even send them to my local drugstores so I am not very happy with them. Ha!
