FixMySkin Balms

For as long as I can remember, I've suffered from eczema, a skin ailment that causes severely dry skin.  On top of that, I have many allergies which make finding products to heal my eczema even more difficult.  In my search for the perfect product to heal my chapped hands, lips, and skin, I came across FixMySkin.  While I have yet to try out these products, I'm intrigued by this brand for a number of reasons:

1.  FixMySkin products contain cortisone, a steroidal ingredient often used in more acute cases of eczema.  Steroidal creams are extremely strong and should not be used on the face without consulting a doctor as this may thin the skin.  However, cortisone has proven very helpful when I've had severe dryness on my hands and body.

2.   FixMySkin products are offered vanilla scented and unscented.  Vanilla is my ultimate favorite smell so I'm pleased that if they had to offer only one scent, this was it!

3.  The idea for these balms came from the desire to use the concept of lip balms for the rest of the body.  The lips are one of the few places on the body without pores so keeping them continually moisturized -- especially if you have dry skin naturally -- is difficult.  I think using that idea to moisturize the rest of the body is pretty ingenious.

FixMySkin offers an innovative solution to several, all-too-common, skin problems. The unique formulation of a medicated balm containing 1% hydrocortisone can be used to treat dry skin, chapped lips, psoriasis, eczema, insect bites, poison ivy, seborrheic dermatitis and allergic skin reactions to cosmetics and other products.

Hydrocortisone, the bedrock of the FixMySkin balms, has chemical properties that help heal rather than merely moisturize the skin, and the special formulation allows for a higher level of effectiveness than plain hydrocortisone creams.  In addition, a unique combination of waxes and hydrocortisone results in a product with a different melting point than any other product already on the market, allowing it to remain solid even when warm.

The FixMySkin balms are available in vanilla and a pleasant flavorless option and come in three convenient sizes for body, lips and face.

Ingredients: Hydrocortisone, Beeswax, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Germ Extract, Meadow Foam (Limnanthes Alba) Seed Oil, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Shea Butter (Butyrospermum Parkii) Extract, Silica, Stearyl Alcohol, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch. (Vanilla also contains Vanilla Flavor.)

Flavors: Vanilla & Unscented
Sizes: Lip: $8 - Face: $10 – Body: $12

What do you think ladies?  Do you think these products would suit your skin needs?

  1. I've got eczema too and nothing without cortisone works so I'd def be willing to give this one a try!

  2. Very interesting!!  I would like to not use topical steroids, but sometimes it seems like it is really necessary.  I love how this line has both options! I've had eczema (as well as my mother, who has it bad on her hands) and I'm definitely up for learning about new products to help calm down the affliction.   Plus, I LOVE vanilla!! :D
If you try this out, I would love to read your review!

  3. This looks really interesting!  I'd be interested to see how it works for you.   I notice it helps for psoriasis as well, which is my problem.

  4. I hope to review this soon so stay tuned!

  5. I won't be able to speak to psoriasis, but I hope if it helps eczema, it might provide you some relief as well!
