Brucci Black Emerald

As much buzz as there is for Bettina, it saddens me that there isn't equal amount of buzz for Brucci.  From the same distributor (I think?), both have the same basic round bottles, same fantastic formula, and same reasonable price.  Their collections, however, are completely separate, so unfortunately, if you don't have access to Bettina, you're not going to be able to replace their colors with a Brucci.

Nevertheless, Brucci's line is pretty fabulous on its own.  No, they don't produce full on seasonal collections like more major brands or its sister company Bettina, but if you look closely among Brucci's wide array of cremes, you'll find many surprising gems.

Black Emerald is one of those.  A black creme base with golden green duochrome shimmer, this polish is just so hot.  This came out before the Model's Own Beetlejuice Collection, which also produced a Black Emerald, and let me tell you, for a fraction of the price, I personally think Brucci did a much better job.  This flashes back and forth from green to black and back while the Beetlejuice swatches aren't as strong duochrome.  If you Google image the MO's BE, you'll see that that polish is just a dark green shimmer...to my eyes, there isn't a duochrome quality at all to it.

But I don't mean to bash Model's Own.  I just personally love this Brucci!  This is two perfect coats:

See what I mean about the flashing green and black?  Pretty fantastic, right?  Ugh, I can just stare at this all day.

Another thing about Brucci that I adore is that it has nail hardener built in.  For those with brittle nails and good taste in polish, I'd seriously recommend Brucci.

I know that I'm rambling on and on about Brucci, but I recently found out that it isn't a mainstay drugstore brand as it is in NY.  I always grew up with Brucci so I was actually shocked that it's not sold more widely in the US.  For those of you who do have access to Brucci, could you please list your location in the comments section?  Who knows: another reader may live nearby and have the opportunity to try out the awesomesauce that is Brucci.  Or maybe make a new swap buddy :)

  1. I too love Brucci!! It's one of the first brands I used to wear because they used it in the nail salon I used to go to every 2 weeks back when I had acrylics. They have such a great variety of colors! I typically see them in Rite Aid and Duane Reade, but I even saw them in Bed, Bath & Beyond the other day.

  5. I love Brucci and it's easily had here in Philadelphia, PA. Though I have to say that the displays I see don't have Black Emerald any longer. Not sure if it is being discontinued or not.

  10. They also have pretty large displays (like racks and racks) in Essentials.

  11. I thought it was discontinued also until I randomly found it at a Duane Reade in Manhattan.  Since then, I've seen it pop up sporadically at random Rite Aids.
