Milani Ruby Jewels

When I was a little girl, I was obsessed with The Wizard of Oz.  I dressed up as Dorothy on numerous Halloweens and probably watched the movie until the tape gave out.

Add my love of red nail polish and I think my hands just had a heart attack.

Milani Ruby Jewels is a bright red jelly packed with red glitter particles that look identical to Dorothy's Ruby Red Slippers.  A dupe to China Glaze Ruby Pumps, this is about half the price and probably way more accessible to most people who don't live near specialty cosmetic stores.  A must buy, in my book.

Application was okay, not great.  This is three coats, but I should probably put it out there that I had a bad headache when I applied this and was actually seeing double...I'm lucky I was able to hit my nail at all.  Maybe if I applied this when I was less myopic I would have better things to say.  The end result, however, speaks for itself.

As lovely as I think this polish looks in pictures, I unfortunately could not capture the exact brilliance of the glitter inside.  The bottle shot in the first picture is probably closest, but it bums me out that it didn't translate well on the nail in pictures.  In real life, this red polish literally glows and pops.  Apparently, other bloggers had a similarly difficult time capturing this as well.  Sigh.

I got toooons of compliments on this beauty from strangers and friends.  "Festive" was a common adjective.

What do you ladies think?  Would you wear this other than during December?

  1. This is really pretty! Although I already have Ruby Pumps, so I guess I don't need this one. I would definitely wear this in other months, though! I'm not a huge red polish fan, but I can see myself breaking out Ruby Pumps throughout the year, for sure.

  2. I'm a bit crazy about season-appropriate polish.  Maybe Fourth of July?  Other than that, this just screams winter.  This would also probably rock with a cream color dress or outfit.

  3. Ohh, I love this. Very pretty and radiant!

  4. Such a beauty! Look at all that hidden glitter. This is similar to my most recent post!
