Chanukah Night #8: L'oreal Owl's Lust with Essie Shine of the Times

Welcome to Night 8 of my Chanukah Manis: Silvery Blues and Wintery Hues!

Except for tonight.

For the last night of Chanukah, I decided to change it up.  Instead of focusing on silvery blues, I thought I'd dedicate my last holiday mani to the flames of the menorah.

L'oreal Owl's Lust definitely took a backseat to Owl's Night, that shimmery olive green/brown that took the polish world by storm this fall.  To be honest, I only own Owl's Lust because it came in a deal package with Owl's Night that I ordered off eBay.

Nevertheless, I am not disappointed.  Owl's Lust is a brick red that doesn't lean too berry or too brown.  A really classy autumnal red, once layered with Essie Shine of the Times, my nails literally appeared alight.

This is two coats of Owl's Lust with one coat of Shine of the Times.

Owl's Lust applied really well, although I have been getting used to the L'oreal brush (a bit short and wide).  Shine of the Times surprised me because it applied super thick.  It doesn't hinder the way it looks, but just know that if you end up buying this, use sparingly so this doesn't just end up looking like gloopy orangey yellow mylar on your nails.

I really liked this mani and felt very trendy wearing it.  My boyfriend thought it was kinda weird but I just don't think he knew how to process mylar glitter; it took him awhile to understand and then finally like holos :)

  2. This is so beautiful! It's really similar to what I wore (and loved) for Christmas--Nubar 2010 over Rimmel Burgundy Flirt.

  8. Haha, yes the day has come.  I really want to see a Shine of the Times with more purple and blue mylar.  I think one of the Finger Paints has that, but I'm not 100% sure.

  9. Especially since Essie formula is normally on the thinner side.
