Amandalandish's Top 15 Polishes of 2011

Happy Sunday everyone!  I'm in a bit of a rush today, so in lieu of my normal morning swatch, I'm going to reveal to you ladies my top 15 polishes of 2011.  I recently had a two day serial on All That is Gorgeous (the lovely Jenn's blog) with this list, so for those of you who missed it, you can check it out here!

15. Revlon Carbonite
Revlon really brought it this year with their Chanel dupes.  The semi-matte silvery grey was very much ignored after all the amazing fall collections came out, however, this polish is a must have for anyone who craves Chanel on a dime.  (This was also one of my first blog posts!  Pardon the awkward hand position.)

14. Barry M. Indigo
Cobalt blue was all the rage in clothes this year, but equally as trendy was cobalt nails.  A fresh take on navy creme, this color really pops on all skin tones.  Barry M.'s Indigo just looks like a juicy blueberry, doesn't it?

13.  CQ Golden Green

I'll be honest, I wasn't too thrilled with this shade of green when it swept the polish world by storm.  Slowly but surely, I grew to love this Chanel Peridot dupe as well as the greenish glow that emanated from the gold base.  This creates minor lobster hands on me though.

12. Revlon Facets of Fuchsia
Yes, this is a Deborah Lippmann dupe (Revlon did well in 2011, didn't it?), but this Revlon is pretty spectacular.  Look at those fuchsia flakies and glitter!  A great polish to jazz up your winter darks.  And easy glitter removal!

11. Essie First Dance
I adore this red!  From the Essie Bridal Collection 2011, this color is bright and beautiful and what I plan on wearing to my own wedding.  I love the 1940s vibe.  Absolutely love.

10. Wet n Wild Buy Me a Drink
My favorite polish from the ridiculously hard to find On the Prowl Collection.  A classic wine red, the shimmer in this beauty really brings this basic burgundy to life.  For $2, an amazing find if you could get it!

9. Color Club Rad Nomad/Ash Brown
While I bought this as Ash Brown this is actually just a renamed Rad Nomad from the Back to Boho Collection.  A gorgeous grurple creme, this is a staple dark neutral for anyone wanting a cozy color for fall and winter.

8. China Glaze Glittering Garland
A smoky emerald green with olive undertones infused with green glitter is totally on trend with everything Fall/Winter 2011.  Part of the China Glaze Let It Snow Collection, GG is the standout star and certainly a polish that should be worn during and after the holiday season.

7. OPI Warm and Fozzie
There isn't a gold or bronze I know that compares to this Muppet gem.  Packed with blue, pink, and green micro glitter, Warm and Fozzie made what could have been a hokey, glitter extravaganza into a collection that can be enjoyed by even those who prefer simpler palettes.

6.  Nicole by OPI It's Not Me, It's Blue
While this was sadly outshone by the subsequent Kardashian Kolors Kollection, INMIB was a NOPI Target exclusive for Fall 2011.  While the picture makes it look more lavender, this is a gorgeous shimmering blue that makes me think of diamond encrusted denim.  I can see this transitioning through winter and spring of 2012 quite nicely.

5. Zoya Caitlin
My apologies for what looks like a halo-esque picture, but Caitlin was the polish that made me pay attention to Zoya.  A cornflower blurple, Caitlin has been replicated and duped in many following collections by other brands (Color Club, Essie, to name a few).  I love how delicate and sophisticated this looks and am happy that this color passed through spring into the other seasonal collections very organically.

4. Sinful Colors Winterberry
I think it's funny that a $2 bottle of nail polish became a HTF LE within days of its release.  But I completely understand why with Winterberry.  A steely grurple, Winterberry really sums up the year in polish: dusty finished in a hybrid shade (have you noticed a lot of 'urples lately?) with a hint of shimmer.

3. Zoya Yara
How could I not include Yara?  This "fugly" color is so modern it practically defines 2011.  Military greens were everywhere, thankfully taking the place of those awful mannequin hand nudes.  And of course, in true Zoya style, Yara is infused with goldeny yellow glass flecks.  Fantastic, right?

2. Butter LONDON Black Knight

For my top two, there was no question what should be listed.  Butter LONDON hit the polish world by storm this year with their kitschy branding, love 'em or hate 'em formula, and their edgy glitters.  The Black Knight, from the LE Holiday Collection, is probably one of the most gorgeous black polishes I own.  The pink, purple, red, and blue glitter look like little solar systems on my nails.

1. Zoya Neeka

And for my #1 polish of the year, it is hands down Zoya Neeka!  This color is so ridiculously beautiful I had to include two pictures...can you see how the light literally bounces off the golden glass flecks in both pictures?  Purple reigned (no pun intended) this year and was brought to new heights of perfection under Zoya's guiding hands.

While my list is comprised of mostly darker colors with micro shimmers in purples, greens, and a surprising dearth of red, I think 2011 was a great year in the polish world.

So, I turn this back you, ladies.  Do you agree with my top 15?  What 2011 lemming of yours did I miss?  Where do you think I completely lost my marbles?

Can't wait to hear your thoughts!

  1. wow i loved the cobalt blue!!! xoxo
if you want check out my blog, i'd love it

  2. Like I said in the other post, now my wishlist keeps growing, I cannot believe I missed some of these.

  3. Great choices!  Loving all the Revlon's you chose (it's my fave brand)  I'm not usually a blue girl, but the Barry M. Indigo is lovely!

  4. Great top shades! I think I need some of them in my life. Like Zoya Yara, Neeka and Caitlin, ChG Glittering Garland and Barry M Indigo. Beautiful!

  5. Thank you so much!  Took me awhile to narrow it all down :S

  6. Don't worry, the way you and I are going, we'll own every polish that comes out in 2012 by February.

  7. I love Revlon too!  I hate the way people go on about them and the bottle; I think they really stay on top of the game with great colors!  I like the fact that the bottles are retro.  Plus, they rock the dupe world.

  8. Thanks, Nihrida!  This year was really awesome in polish, wasn't it?

  9. Indigo is really an awesome shade!

  10. Number 15 and 6 thinks they should be added to my wish list LOL.... Great picks!
