Share the Love, Day 4: Rachel from Top Coat It

Happy Thanksgiving, ladies!  I'm very pleased to have Rachel from Top Coat It guest post today during the Share the Love week.  Her mani is super chic, take a look!

Hello Amandalandish groupies!  Happy Thanksgiving!  I'm Rachel from Top Coat It.  I'm excited to be here today.  I hope you've all had your fill of yummy food and are ready to get your mani on!

I'm in love with the mani I have for you today.  LOVE! Lace nails.  I was sad to take it off.  Yeah you could just go pick up the Sally Hansen lace skins and that would've been a lot easier, but where's the fun in that?
Pros to doing it yourself: -You pick your lace -You pick your base color -You get to tell people, "Yes, I did it myself!"
Cons to doing it yourself: -Ugg... Cutting the lace to size is time consuming -Having actual lace on your nails is kinda bumpy and scratchy.

I started with a base color of Sinful Colors Mint Apple, a beautiful aqua shimmer.   Now, I didn't have lace on hand, so I ran over to my local fabric store and got some lace ribbon for super cheap.  It was like $2.50 a yard and I only got half a yard.  It was enough to do my nails a few times.  I lined the pattern in the lace up differently on each nail, just for fun.  I love how they turned out.  Cutting each piece to size was the hardest part.  Look at how awesome these are!  The scratchiness was a bit annoying, but not something that would keep me from doing it again.

A couple close ups of my thumb.

I'm already ready to do this again.  It's the kind of mani that you want to wear to a party or something so everyone will compliment you on your freakin' awesome nails and be impressed when you tell them you did it yourself.

In the next week or so I'll be posting a tutorial over on my blog, Top Coat It, so keep your eyes peeled for that.  Tomorrow is the last day of our Share the Love journey.  Join me over of my home turf for my wrap up mani.  Thanks again for having me, Amanda!

I think Rachel did an amazing job on this mani!  I particularly love the fact that she combined the very on trend aqua green with the timelessness of lace.  Just beautiful.  Make sure to check out Rachel's blog for more beautiful ideas to jazz up your hands!
