Revlon Facets of Fuchsia

Happy Monday, ladies!  Hope everyone had a nice weekend :)

Apart from posting my latest giveaway (!!!), I didn't post any swatches this weekend.  That's largely because I was featured over at my blogger bestie, Nory's, site, Fierce Makeup and Nails.  She also just launched her 350 Follower Giveaway with a HTF Puerto Rican brand lot so go enter now!

Anyways, in case any of you missed my posts, I will be reposting my swatches today (and potentially tomorrow) with abbreviated text.
_______________

I'm a nail purist and can't do nail art even if I paid someone to do it for me; so instead, I chose  a wilder mani idea -- at least for me! -- for Nory's lovely readers.

I know at this point everyone is familiar with Revlon Facets of Fuchsia, a Deborah Lippmann Bad Romance dupe.  As a polish purist, I don't do glitter, let alone hex glitter.  But for some reason, and three months of reading constant posts raving about FoF later, I caved.

Two very neat coats (I don't like uneven glitter) over two coats of Sally Hansen Midnight in NY (the closest to a true black that I own), this was my result:

Much more demure in natural light than I thought.

Okay, so I'm reluctantly loving this.  I can't be a glitter girl, I just can't.  But this.  This is so lovely.  I love dark polishes with hidden micro glitter like Milani Garnet Gems or Color Club With Abandon and this layered combo isn't as in your face as I had initially thought.  Most importantly, this was a cinch to take off!  Yay to avoiding destroying my cuticles with rigorous acetone-induced trauma!

Anyways, I hope that this mani lives up to Nory's brilliant polish combos and perhaps makes me one step closer to accepting myself as a potential glitter girl.  Ugh, this is gonna take some time.

  4. Hahaha, I don't think I'm crossing that line just yet.  I've heard a lot about Wet n Wild for a black base, but I kinda like the Sally Hansen since there's a slight shimmer that I think adds something if you're layering.  However, since I don't layer that much, it's more of a go-to black.

  8. That made me laugh.  But yes, I am a notorious glitter hater.  But will all this support, I may have no choice but to cross over to the glitter side, as Sarah puts it!
