My apologies and help (!)

As any recent commentor of my blog may have noticed, I recently switched over to the Disqus commenting system.  For purely computer commenting, this has been a real godsend and really intuitive.  However, I've run into a few issues that I wanted to run past you guys:

- If you've been commenting via your smartphone (iPhone, Android, Blackberry), I have not been receiving those comments.  I did some research and this is because Blogger mobile view does not allow widgets, which Disqus apparently is.  Instead, you have been commenting on the old Blogger commenting form which no longer exists.  I get email alerts, but for some reason every comment says it comes from "Amanda" which I know isn't the case.  These comments never show up on the actual blog.  I want to apologize for any comment that I have not responded to if you wrote to me in that way.

- In order to prevent lost comments, I have disabled mobile view for my blog.  This annoys me because I love the way the mobile view seamlessly integrates the blog to phone (I have a Droid, so I know :).  What this will mean differs by phone owner:

For Androids: My blog will look identical to how it looks on a computer.  Obviously, you'll have to zoom in to see, but if you click the pencil, you will be able to comment on Disqus as you would online.

For iPhones: My blog will look identical to how it looks on a computer.  Here's the rub: you will not be able to comment from the iPhone because, from what I read, Disqus is not enabled on iPhones.

I don't know how much this will affect your blogging experience, but I'm truly sorry if this has caused any issues for any of my readers.  I'm trying to resolve this by frantically sending emails to Google and Disqus, but in the meantime, I ask for your patience or advice if you know how to fix this.

Thank you!

  1. Just want you to know that I am not a fan of disqus at all.  I tend to not leave comments on blogs that have it-but I will still be reading!

  2. I use disqus...under your admin settings, you can import comments that are left under the blogger platform. Then you are able to respond to them with disqus. I love using this!

  3. I just checked and it says everything has been imported.  However, when it does pull from Blogger, all the comments say they come from me, "Amanda."  Do you know how to fix that?

    Thank you for your advice!

  4. Not sure about that one...I didn't have that issue. Their customer service is pretty good though. Hope you can get it fixed soon.
