China Glaze Emerald Fitzgerald (Challenge Day 5: A Polish That Reminds You of a Special Day)

A few months ago, my boyfriend and I decided that we were going to have a picnic in Central Park.  This past summer in NYC was horrible, sweltering, humid, and disgusting, so it was one of the few things I agreed to do outside of air-conditioning.  Since I am not a cook and my boyfriend gets palpitations in supermarkets, we of course, found ourselves looking the part but without adequate amounts of food or water.  But, nevertheless, we had a nice time and played Farkle for a couple of hours (get your mind out of the gutter, it's a dice game) and then walked back to Union Square.

So when today's challenge asked for a polish that reminded me of a special day, I immediately remembered that day and the fact that it was the first time I tried out China Glaze Emerald Fitzgerald, which went very nicely with the BCBG jersey dress I wore that day.  I consider Emerald Fitzgerald the twin sister polish of Midnight Mission, which are both are part of China Glaze's Vintage Vixen Collection.  However, unlike Midnight Mission, in natural light, it's hard to see the microshimmer that is dispersed within the dark hunter green.  When I tried to photograph it with flash, you can see the shimmer, but the polish looks blue (see the second nail photo).  The other pictures are not with flash but in normal, indoor light but are much more color accurate.  All in all, a lovely dark color that applies very nicely.

This is the dress I wore.  I loved it so much I got it also in black and grey snakeskin print.  With the sale prices I bought  both with, it still came out cheaper than buying one of the retail price.  I love scores like that.

Is there any color/polish that reminds you of something in particular?

  3. Don't you just get the most awesome "high" when landing on a really spectacular deal like that?! And you reminded me that while I own this shade (one of two that I picked up from that collection), I never actually wore it...I need to rectify that STAT! All credit to your wonderful swatches!

  4. Oh, Eugenia! Your comments are always so kind and give me the worst sort of blogger high :) Thanks for the compliments and let me know when you swatch your Emerald Fitzgerald... I think there was a recent Dior color that you swatched that is similar to this...?

  5. Dior, no...perhaps you're thinking of NARS' Night Porter? That was the most recent deep green/teal polish that I reviewed...however, there are others similar to this shade, but China Glaze goes that extra mile: fab formula, amazing and interesting colours and excellent price! Win! PS: you're very welcome, but I only say 'em as I see 'em!
